4. SCHOOL VOCABULARY


List some of the words you've already learned: student/guidance/career counselor, exchange year, high school / upper secondary school, etc.
(write the Finnish and the English words!). 

Try adding as many words that have to do with school as possible.
Add 20-50 words!

Compare the Finnish educational system with the one in the country you're going to.
Add a picture(diagram of the Finnish educational system to this post and then add the educational system vocabulary words to your list.

Then look for a similar picture of your country's educational system and translate them, too, i.e. add those words to the list, too!

In brief:
POST 4 school have

1. a list of 20-50 school words + words from the Finnish educational system + words from the new country's educational system
    (an English - Finnish list!)

2. a picture of the Finnish educational system

3. a picture of the new country's educational system

3. Selecting a high school



Select a high school near to your host family.

Include the following things in your post:

- the name of the school you've selected (link it to their website)
- the reason why you've selected that particular school
- give some background info on the school. 
What makes it special?
- are there many schools in the neighborhood?
- are theredifferent types of schools than what you're used to in your area/city/country (boarding school, single sex schools)?

2. Testing, testing

So, you are planning to go abroad for a year.
Your first step is a visit to your guidance counselor.
The career counselor gives you a bunch of personality tests to do.



1. You like the look of the color test, so you decide to do that one:

The test is in two parts. Make sure you use a dictionary so that you understand the instructions!

2a. Post a text on this test. Explain what you had to do. Was the test easy to do? Was it easy to understand? What were the results and do you agree with the results of the test? Why? Do you think personality tests like these are valid? Did you learn something new about your personality? What kind of person are you really? Try to write at least 100 words. (add a word count)

2b. Look for another personality test online (in any language). Post the link and the result. Write briefly on the similarities and/or differences between both tests. What were the results and do you agree with the results of the test? Why? Try to write at least 50 words. (add a word count)

You are all going to make a BLOG on your GAP YEAR!

SO, go www.blogger.com and create your own blog!
Follow the teacher's instructions on how to make your blog private and how to share it with the teacher!

 Just say Hi, tell your readers you are starting a new blog about your exciting year (you are going to study abroad!!). 
    Tell us what English-speaking country you have selected and why. *
    Tell us a bit about yourself and add a picture (you can drag & drop them straight into your text!). about you, your pet, your hobby, your home town, etc.
    You can be creative, i.e. you can invent a whole new persona!    Write a minimum of 150 words (add a word count at the end)
    You can work a bit on this next time, too!
